About David Jenkins

You don't have to be visibly overweight to have an eating problem.

I am one of those people with a high metabolism so that you would rarely notice my weight fluctuations.

Nevertheless, in the bad times, I can down a burger and fries and then eat cookies and ice cream nonstop for the rest of the evening. It's not a pretty sight.

In early 2013 I had a medical scare -- high blood pressure -- and dropped 15lbs in 3 months and then another 5lbs in the following 3 months.  This was mainly motivated by fear -- it made dieting easy.

But then something else happened. While I confidently expected to continue losing weight, instead it started creeping back. I knew I could take off that hamburger and fries if I wanted to and so I ate it. The pounds were on their way...

That's when I had to get down to some serious thinking.

I used my dreams

Dream: I am carrying a ladder up to the roof. I have no idea what you would do with a ladder on a roof.
Interpretation: Warning, you don't know what to do. Your weight is going through the roof.

And I learned to interrupt my bad habits by training on much easier tasks: Learn to say "No" to reading your email all day and you have taught yourself a great deal about. the mechanism to say "No" to snacking too.
