| Seth Lepore Seth Lepore is a truly remarkable voice teacher. I believe I really found my "voice" -- in the sense that what I really had to say started to come out of my mouth -- after working with him. If you live anywhere near Berkeley, CA and want to improve your voice, he's a must. email Seth. He's not yet famous (Oct '04) and therefore currently reasonably priced. Go for it. Don't wait til his rates go thru the roof. - David New Method Voice TrainingThis unique voice training is based on release and relaxation techniques that focus on the body as a whole instrument. Through a variety of contemplative, centering modalities students learn how to use spatial awareness practices to increase their inherent abilities. They can be used for singers, actors, public speakers, teachers or anyone who wants to work on expanding their vocal range and presence, whether it be for professional or personal reasons. Classes consist of guided exercises that allow the voice to fully come from the center and to explore habits and tendencies that can keep one stuck. After relaxing and expanding the limits of the voice, we work with range. Much of this work is based on the principle that anyone can have full range. Through repetition, a natural intuition develops that can be followed to find new ways of projecting and using the voice with ease. Students are invited to bring specific material they would like to work on and develop. This could be in the form of song, monologue, story, public speech, etc. All individual learning styles are taken into consideration and no prior experience is necessary. Seth Lepore, BA Interdisciplinary Studies, focus Creativity in Education, has an extensive background in theater, music, storytelling and performance. He has performed in various music ensembles, as well as in monologues and plays which were self-produced and directed. He has taught ages 5 through adult and is dedicated to assisting each student meet their goals through a gentle and precise teaching style. Testimonials"I began taking voice lessons in preparation for my music career. I have taken a few lessons from traditional folks but found Seth's techniques to be one that took my voice to the next level. His techniques not only train the vocal chords, it trains the entire body and focuses the lessons towards strengthening and relaxing the vocal chords. The breathing techniques allowed me to increase my lung power as well as reach notes higher and lower than my usual. What is most revealing is the confidence that I did not recognize from my lower voice and falsettos. I can now incorporate these new levels into my repertoire. All in all, Seth is comfortable to work with, approachable, and fun." -Xisco Ponce, Jr.- Adult Contemporary Chart Singer/Songwriter "After one lesson with Seth I felt like my throat was open for the whole week and I could feel my speaking voice freely pass through the cords, clearly and effortlessly. They are very customized to the student. Seth has incorporated many aspects of his background to focus on the student's purpose for taking lessons. I believe that with these lessons one can peel away layers gathered through the years, such as inhibition, insecurity, fear, and disappointment that are covering up our true voices." -Nathalie Babazadeh LAc and herbalist "The emotional aspect of speaking isn't something traditional voice teachers have much experience working with. They focus on how to prepare and present a speech, not how to prepare your body and mind for comfortable speaking. Seth is a fun, compassionate, resourceful teacher. His approach is one that can be specially tailored to individuals. He really pays attention to where you are, and how you're feeling. By being such a good listener he is able to adapt the exercises you do to be even more personalized and therefore effective. This is voice work that addresses both the emotional as well as physiological aspects of speaking through body-voice and breath work." Kathy McCracken, voice student
